Webber on pole in Silverstone
Red Bull driver Mark Webber beat teammate and championship leader Sebastian Vettel by a mere 0,032 seconds to grab the pole. Mark's lap time was 1.30,399. Third place man Fernando Alonso was 0,117 off Webber. The trio is expected to fight hard for victory. Especially Webber and Alonso have nothing to lose at this stage. A huge disappointment for Jenson Button (5) and especially for Lewis Hamilton just inside the top ten (in tenth) and nearly 2 seconds off the Red Bulls adding to his already growing...
Lewis Hamilton free to leave McLaren
The Daily Mail (UK) reported yesterday that Lewis Hamilton is free to leave McLaren after this season. The newspaper did not reveal its source for this information. The 2008 champ is said to yearn for more championships as he doesn't want to be remembered as a "one championship wonder". Lewis has been extremely frustrated all season with Sebastian Vettel driving to a second championship in the Red Bull. Vettel leads the 2011 championship by a whopping 77 points from Jenson Button and Mark Webber....

Today the team issued a statement that the team was in fact sold, but instead to a Spanish investment firm Thesan Capital. Thesan Capital aims to keep all of the current staff but make the team even more Spanish. Currently the driver line-up is Italian Vitantonio Liuzzi ja Aussie Daniel Ricciardo. Fangio tribute video
The Mercedes GP team has released a stylish video commemorating F1-legend Juan Manuel Fangion's 100th birthday. The Argentinian won two championships with Mercedes in the 1950's. In all Fangio won five titles. He died in 1995 at the age of 84.
The loonie race : Montreal GP
Probably one the most colourful F1 races of the season, the Montreal GP lived up to its reputation. The winner, Jenson Button, took five pitstops, had two crashes and a drive-through penalty! That's insane! His drive will go down in history as one of the F1 comebacks. While Jenson Button was the "good guy", his McLaren teammate Lewis Hamilton was the "bad guy". After pulling a pathetic race-card (for being black) in Monaco he continued his demolition derby style driving in Montreal. He has...
2011 Montreal Grand Prix tips
Sebastian Vettel took pole position in Montreal where rain is expected for race day. The Red Bull team did not expect to take pole as their car suits a fast cornered race track rather Montreal's slow corners. Team boss Christian Horner said "We did not expect to be on pole, so achieving this on our least preferred track was a surprise." "Fantastic result from Seb", Horner continued. Ferrari made a strong team effort to take second and third in the qualifying. Fernando Alonso made the front...
2011 Canadian GP practice
Sebastian Vettel was the fastest in Saturday's practice run in Montreal. Teammate Mark Webber was unable to do any practice laps due to a problem with KERS. Fernando Alonso was only 0.3 seconds behind and third man Nico Rosberg continued his excellent run with only half a second off the pace of that of Vettel. In other news Sergio Perez will not race in Canada as he got dizzy when driving. He's still recovering from a concussion suffered in Monaco. And it looks like Michael Schumacher is...
2011 Monaco Grand Prix
Sergio Perez suffered a concussion in the 2nd qualifying stint. The accident took place immediately after the tunnel at very high speed. It was a heavy impact on the notorious Nouvelle Chicane. The Mexican was taken straight into hospital where he was in a stable condition. He will miss the race today. As a result of the accident the qualifying was stopped and this ruined the chances of many drivers including Lewis Hamilton. With only two minutes remaining of qualifying it became a crapshoot...
The fight for pole in Monaco
It seems that the supersoft and soft Pirelli tyres last longer than expected on Monaco streets. This means that there will not be as many pit stops as in previous races, and it also means that being on pole is just as important as it always has been in Monaco. For the driver it means if you are on pole position, a win in the race is almost guaranteed. It's that's simple and this is because it is nearly impossible to overtake on this narrow street track that is hardly suitable for modern F1 racing. On...
