Triple Melbourne Cup-winning jockey Glen Boss won his first Scobie Breasley Medal at last night’s 2010 Victorian Thoroughbred Racing Awards. Boss defeated siz-time winner Damien Oliver to claim Victorian racing’s highest honour in his first full season since relocating from Sydney in late 2008.

The Scobie Breasley Medal is awarded to the most outstanding flat jockey of the season, based on performances at Victoria’s metropolitan meetings from 1 August 2009-31 July 2010. Master trainer Bart Cummings won a record third Fred Hoysted Medal for the most outstanding training performance of the season – in the space of four weeks last October-November, Cummings won four Group 1 races: Caulfield Cup (Viewed), Cox Plate (So You Think), Crown Oaks (Faint Perfume) and Toorak Handicap (Allez Wonder).

Other winners at the Victorian Thoroughbred Racing Awards included:
Victorian Horse-Of-The-Year: Typhoon Tracy
Country Apprentice: Jacob Rule
Metropolitan Apprentice: Jason Maskiell
Tommy Corrigan Medal: Steve Pateman
George Hanlon Trophy: Darren Weir
Metropolitan Trainer Premiership: Peter Moody
Wilson Medal: Linda Meech
Metropolitan Jockey Premiership: Luke Nolen
