John Isner was great against Michael Russell in the quarter finals. John will now face Kevin Anderson in the semi-final and will have the mental edge and the crowd support. Isner has beaten the South African in every important meeting including a big match between University of Georgia and Illinois, winning their last two meetings in straight sets including four months ago at Indian Wells and two years ago at Queen’s Club.
Anderson served very well in his quarter final against Lacko and his second serve has kick too. He will meet his old college rival but he has not enjoyed the same level of success as John has since turning pro three years ago.
Isner is looking to win his first ATP World Tour title on home soil and he shouldn’t have any problem against Anderson on the road to the final. The American is very positive about his chances to reach the final, saying: “If I take care of my serve, I should have a pretty good chance”.
