Mardy has never been so confident and is playing really well since Queen’s Club. He broke Andy Roddick’s nine game winning streak in the semi-final and looked great at the net. His movement is so much better than it used to be and his backhand was working great. Fish’s weight loss and diet are really paying off with three finals from last four ATP events.
John is confident as well but the way he played against Kevin Anderson in the semi-final he shouldn’t really have a chance against Mardy. Isner was melting in the heat, just like in Miami, and he could barely move. Luckily for him it got a bit cloudy and he was able to beat Anderson. Against Mardy it will be difficult for him to repeat such a performance.
Fish owns the only head-to-head meeting between the two in San Jose one year ago. This should be an outstanding, tight match and both guys have done really well to get to the final. Fish just needs a higher first serve success rate for him to overcome Isner.
Verdict: Mardy Fish to win at $1.60.
