Thursday, July 29th, 2010 posted by Dorian

The Old White Course is the oldest track on the PGA Tour, designed by C.B.Macdonald and Seth Raynor in 1914. Sam Snead was the club professional at The Greenbrier from 1944 to his death in 2002 and the Greenbrier Resort has been the host of numerous events over the years including the 1979 Ryder Cup – the first time continental Europe joined the competition, the 1994 Solheim Cup and a Champions Tour event from 1985-1987.

Jim Furyk, No. 5 in the Official World Golf Ranking, is the highest ranked of the field and is playing fairly close to home. A win must be around the corner for the golfer with 15 wins during his PGA Tour career. Jim is a $15 chance to win the Greenbrier Classic.

Matt Kuchar has three consecutive top 10 finishes in North America, including T4 at RBC Canadian Open, and seven overall this season. Matt is a $19 chance to win the Greenbrier Classic.

Long hitter Jeff Overton is very close from possibly locking down a Ryder Cup spot and he is coming to the Old White Course after good T11 at St. Andrews. Without a PGA Tour victory, he is a $26 chance to win the Greenbrier Classic.

Charlie Wi is in great form lately, entering on a solo 4th-T15-T4 stretch. The South Korea professional golfer is a $34 chance to win the Greenbrier Classic.

J.B.Holmes had some good results this month with a fifth place at the AT&T National and sharing 14th spot at British Open. Ranked T5th in Scoring Average, the American is a $34 chance to win the Greenbrier Classic.

South African Brendon De Jonge leads the Tour with an active streak of nine consecutive rounds under par and is looking forward to a win, after four top 15 finishes in his last PGA Tour events he has played in. First golfer in birdies is a $41 chance to win the Greenbrier Classic.

Trevor Immelman is another South-African with a good chance in winning the title. Trevor is the winner of the 2008 Masters Tournament, and currently he is a $41 chance to win the Greenbrier Classic.

Charley Hoffman finished T7-T4 on last two starts, was T3 in birdies and T4 in putting. 21st place in Birdie Average, Charley is a $41 chance to win the Greenbrier Classic.

Paul Goydos shoot an incredible 59 just three weeks ago at the John Deere Classic, and finished runner up on last event played in America. With three top 5s this year, Paul is an $81 chance to win the Greenbrier Classic.

Brian Davis has twice finished runner-up on the US Tour in 2010 but played poorly and withdraw from Toronto just last week due to exhaustion. Brian is a $151 chance to win the Greenbrier Classic.

Verdict:
- J.B. Holmes to win the title at $34.
- Paul Goydos to finish top 10.
