The Perth Cup is Western Australia's premier horse race event held at the Ascot Racecourse on New Year's Day each year. There are three Group 1 races contended at the Perth Cup, which are the Railway Stakes, the Kingston Town Classic, and the WATC Derby.
It is run over the same distance as the Melbourne Cup (3200m) and prize money hovers around $400,000.
