Australian Derby Day 2010

The Australian Derby is a 2400m race for three year olds. The total prize-money is around $1.3m. So it’s not too shabby and gets a lot of interest from the crowds. What else is on on the day? Well there’s the TJ Smith Stakes (1200m) and Sires Produce Stakes (1400m) along with a couple Group 2 races; the Chairman’s Handicap (2600m) and the Sapphire Stakes (1200m). A Group 3 race is also run, the Adrian Knox Stakes (2000m).

Of course there’s the day of the ‘Fashions on the Field’ contest among other competitions to amuse the punters.
